Automated Estimate-At-Completion And Percent Complete
Measuring and managing percent complete for a project typically focuses on a task breakdown but always includes billable and non-billable tasks. With this script, a Project Manager can update a single Estimate-to-Complete (ETC) hours field that is used in a calculation to populate an Estimate-at-Completion (EAC) value and accurate percent complete. In addition, specific types of tasks by task type can be designated to be included or excluded from the percent complete calculation - a value that can also be used to drive revenue percent complete values.
Technical Description
This is a form script that calculates the EAC (budget_time) for a project based on the ETC Override and Approved hours fields.
Dependencies
A number of custom fields must be setup to support this feature including a new EAC and ETC hours field along with hours field for total hours and only those from designated task types to support a new % complete calculated field. The budget hours field is taken over by this script if task types are used to determine % complete, allowing the % complete recognition rules to use the Budget Hours field for revenue generation.
