Did you know you can control form fields using Conditional form permission rules?

Expanding on the form permission features throughout OpenAir, many of the forms support the creation of logic which will hide, show, require, or make fields read-only. These rules add another dimension to the unique configuration and experience of end-users within the OpenAir system.

To create a rule, access the form permissions form in the tips area of any specific OpenAir form. As you scroll down the form past the field control and section control, a small section will be available called Rules. Click on Create to create a new rule, or edit if a rule already exists.

A form will appear to configure the rule. Rules consider basic Boolean logic with All or Or criteria consideration and field impact identification. To make rules specific to types of individuals, the User Role value is available to the criteria list to have rules apply based on roles and responsibilities. This will enable you to incorporate business process as part of the form behavior in OpenAir. A great example is control of certain types of roles but have a single resource be the single owner of a process within that role. Multi-office organizations typically have multiple ‘local administrators’ that have a wide variety of permissions but to control a centralized process or checkbox could be handled by combining roles and departments and even user names in some cases!

NOTE: Be aware that adding logic to control the hide/show/require/read-only of fields will not be allowed to conflict with the general field control on the form permissions. An error will be displayed to either correct the form permission control of the field or remove the rule.
